Newport has had a long association with photography going back over 100 years, with an international reputation for its School of Documentary Photography established in the 1970's by the well-known Magnum photographer, David Hurn.
For its part, Ffoto Newport aims to showcase the work of photographers associated with Newport and Wales as a whole. We believe it’s also extremely important to support grass-root channels in photography to help nurture new talent.
The space will showcase various photographers from all walks of life throughout the year. Some are already established while others will be just at the start of their journey. Whoever they are and whatever they have to say, we see it as our job to give them a platform.
With this in mind, we’re keen to accept submissions from anyone who is either from Wales or has a connection to this beautiful land. Since opening, we have already played host to two successful exhibitions. We opened with Ron McCormick’s ‘Carrot Fly’ while our second, John Crerar’s ‘Dark Spring’, is on display till the 30th May.
